[color:"blue"] I HAVE THE FILE READY TO EMAIL TO YOU IF YOU THINK YOU CAN HELP ME .... I WILL BE WATCHING FOR RESPONSES...
kenneth2k1 Posted December 23, 2002 Posted December 23, 2002 Hmm, I find it interesting that there is a direct correlation between hours worked and file size. Anyway, does the recovered file open? Unfortunately, this is where your backup system comes into play. Don't feel too bad, it has happened to just about all of us. Ken
tallboy755 Posted December 23, 2002 Author Posted December 23, 2002 Its not the design that has been lost.... Its the 1100 of the 1500 records that have been lost . The file will not open unless I recover it.
tallboy755 Posted December 23, 2002 Author Posted December 23, 2002 Also ... I have a tape backup that runs every night ... I overwrite the tapes after a week ... the problem is that I have not opened this file for about 2 weeks ... and it was apparently corrupted about 2 weeks ago ... So all 7 of my backup tapes have the corrupted file backed up onto them! Please see my other post about what I have done to prevent this problem.
kenneth2k1 Posted December 23, 2002 Posted December 23, 2002 I had a problem once where the damaged file couldn't be recovered. FM Inc's suggestion was for me to create a new file, try my best to remember which fields were in there and export to the new file. It's a pretty weak solution, but that's what they suggested. It would have been useful provided that I had printed some DDRs or logical diagrams of the system. I didn't at the time, but now I do!
jasonwood Posted December 25, 2002 Posted December 25, 2002 12-15 hours of work? consider yourself lucky!
