May 8, 200322 yr Newbies Hi, all, I'm using FMPro 5 for windows. I recently upgraded my monitor to a large size and am running the display at 1600x1200. Unfortunately, FMPro now displays some text - particularly field lists and import/export boxes with field lists - in type so miniscule I cannot read it. I don't have this problem with most other apps, or at least not so severe. I even reduced the monitor resolution but it didn't really do a lot of good. For the moment, I'm doing my FMPro import/export work on my laptop, but that's not always convenient. Is there any workaround involving FMPro? Thanks for any help. Ed
May 9, 200322 yr Hi Ed, FileMaker may use some fonts as specified from your current Windows settings. ( FM gurus pls correct me if I'm wrong). Check the Display Properties, Appearance tab. Font sizes for various 'Items' can be set larger. If this doesn't help, try the Settings tab, Advanced button. If the font size is set to "Other...", perhaps it is scaled to a very small font? cheers, Wendy
May 10, 200322 yr 19" monitor or 17" LCD has recommended resolution of 1280x1024. No wonder For 1600x1200 you need 22".
May 10, 200322 yr Actually, you can use 1600x1200 on a 19" monitor, but your pixel size is very, very small, which is why it's not recommended. When you say you "reduced the monitor resolution", what did you set it to? ****************** BTW, Anatoli, shouldn't that be 1280x960 (4:3 ratio)? I've seen LCD screens that are wider (like the new Apple 17" Powerbook and the Apple 22" Studio LCD monitor), but never taller.
May 10, 200322 yr That is maybe true, but all cards and monitors have only 1280x1024. I never saw "fine tuning", pixel by pixel to any requested size.
May 19, 200322 yr I don't believe FM responds to the font size selection in the display setup as someone suggested above. Nor does it respond to the "dpi" setting in the display. Most every application except FM responds to that. FM works directly at the pixel level which is just one of many frustrating characteristics of FM. At the risk of sounding overly simplistic, have you just increased the zoom setting in FM? I have a Dell laptop that has an outrageous resolution. I had to write a script to set the zoom level to 200% so I could read it normally.
