Salesman0Gil Posted February 3, 2004 Posted February 3, 2004 I deleted my other two post, please forgive the doble post. Are there any concerns I should have to upgrade from 5.5 to 6.0? I have heard that some layouts do not upgrade well. Also, does anyone know if there will be a newer version any time soon? Why upgrade to 6 if a 6.5 is in the works? Salesman PS: Again, please forgive the double post!
Kurt Knippel Posted February 3, 2004 Posted February 3, 2004 Well, the transition from Filemaker 5.x to Filemaker 6 does NOT change the underlying file structure to the database, so there should not be any issues with layouts or anything else related to the database files themselves. At our company we use a mix of 5, 5.5 and 6 without any issues. Filemaker 7 should be out sometime this year. I would guess toward summer. How many licenses are you considering upgrading?
Kurt Knippel Posted February 3, 2004 Posted February 3, 2004 Filemaker has recently been including a 12 month maintenance agreement in all VLA (volume license agreement) upgrades. This means that you can buy 6.0 now and get 7.0 for free when it comes out later this year.
