How to update/change values in global field

Can somebody please tell me how to update/change the values in a global field? I use global fields on letterhead layouts for logos and addresses, etc., but don't remember how I populated the fields or how to update.

Thanks for your help.

Ed

Use SetField(gGolbal,newvalue)

Thanks for the quick reply. Still unsure... where do I apply your prescribed function? What mode... browse, layout? Should the global field options be anything in particular?

Thanks again.

Ed

You can put the SetField statements into a script, or alternatively put the fields on a layout, go to the layout an enter your new data. Make sure the fields at set to allow entry (right click a field, select Field Format in Layout Mode.

Remember if this file is hosted using server you may need to launch it locally to set the globals as the only last un-hosted user's globals are stored.

A "preferences file"ight be better for this. It's a database with just one record, so you can use normal text and container fields instead of globals, and hence avoid all these problems.
