I am trying to create a field with a popup menu that will not be visible when the form is printed. It is mostly a search tool. Is there a way to create this "blind" field?

The best technique is to have a layout that you create for printing purposes only and doesn't have the popup that you don't want displayed.

Or select the field in Layout Mode, go to Format -> Sliding/Printing, and select 'Do not print the selected objects'.
