richMac Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 Now that FileMaker has fired many of their developers, apparently over problems with the release of FMP 7, (www.thinksecret.com) I wonder how long it wil be before we see fixes to the bugs in this new version. Somebody obviously didn't do their homework.
Deep Thought II Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 er, firing usually doesnt solve any problem at all if they are simply trying to blame their own developers solely upon this issue. but usually... people fire people based upon various reasons... heh~! as long as FM can get its product fixed...
Ted S Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 Yeah this is interesting. I'm not very well connected to the "goings on" at FileMaker; can somebody tell me what went wrong with the release of 7.0? Was it too late? Too big of a change? Too buggy? Something else? I have not used 7.0 much but so far I'm very impressed. They seem to have corrected the big problems with the pre 7 versions and positioned it well for future growth but maybe some of you more "well connected" types can weigh-in on this topic.
Kurt Knippel Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 Well this could also be house cleaning...a major release was just made available. Then the top developer has left...whoever is coming in will surely be reorganizing the division. Not entirly surprising.
LiveOak Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 Based upon a technology plan presented at DevCon several years ago, I'm surprised that FM 7 is as far along the plan as it is. I wouldn't consider FM 7 as late or too buggy based upon the technical advance it represents. -bd
