October 19, 200520 yr Either through WinXP or FMP8, is there a way to control how long the tooltips dialog remains visible? Some of my tooltips need a little more time to be read. Thanks.
October 20, 200520 yr Tooltips should stay visible when the mouse is over an object as long as the mouse isn't moved. A slight motion may hide the tooltip, then the tooltip will reappear after the usual delay.
October 20, 200520 yr I don't think so. I'm on Windows XP and the tooltip displays for 8-10 seconds and then goes away. If you simply move the cursor again it does not come back. If you move the cursor off the object and then back on, the tooltip will display again. This seems to be typical behaviour for Windows programs. Oh, there may be some Windows registry setting that controls how long the tip displays but I don't know what it is.
October 20, 200520 yr I stand corrected (actually, I'm sitting...). I tested this using Remote Desktop Connection from a Mac, and Tooltips behave differently than they do directly on the PC. Interesting... A quick search of the reigstry and developer tooltip implementation in Windows shows that the times are determine by the application, not the system, so there probably isn't a registry entry that can be tweaked.
