Newbies otjacob Posted December 14, 2005 Newbies Posted December 14, 2005 (edited) I am using Office 2004 for Mac. Will the data merge manager in Word recognize a FileMaker Pro 8 database or does the data need to be exported? My Pro 8 database is greyed out when the data source selected is filemaker pro and the choices appear. Thanks, jacob Edited December 14, 2005 by Guest
CyborgSam Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 AFAIK, and on my Mac this only works for FileMaker 5-6 (.fp5 extension). All .fp7 files on my Mac are dimmed. Maybe Office 2008 will be compatible with FileMaker 7. ;-) You'll have to export from FileMaker... Remember that Word doesn't like Filemaker's .tab and .mer extensions, so save them as .txt.
JerrySalem Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I don't know if this is your problem, but Office also won't see Filemaker files on a server. They have to be on the machine you are working on.
mlemmnapa Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 No Word will not recognize a FileMaker file as a data source you have to export the data. Unless you have more than a one page letter just do the merge right in FileMaker no need to use Word or use EZXLT and export as XML to created merged Word document.
