Menubar weirdness in FMP 8.5 Advanced (Mac)

Featured Replies

Hello,

Filemaker Pro 8.5 Advanced

Mac OS X (Tiger.8)

When I switch from Browse to Find mode, Filemaker's menubar changes in a very unusual way. The Help menu item is replaced by a black Apple logo that is situated in the middle of the menubar (from left to right), and two Filemaker menu items display (one contains the Sharing menu, the other contains all the rest of the items you'd expect to find).

This happens only when switching to Find mode. The menubar is normal when in Browse or Layout mode.

If I launch another app (e.g., System Preferences) besides the Finder and then switch back to Filemaker (still in Find mode), then the menubar reverts to normal. If I switch to Finder then back to Filemaker, the problem persists.

Has anyone else seen this peculiarity or have a suggestion for solving it?

Thanks in advance and cheers!

Are there any custom menus installed?

The file (custom menu) could be corrupted

You could post a screen shot.

Under the Layout Setup menu is the Layout Menubar set?

Stuart,

Many thanks for replying. Regrets for the delay in getting back.

I have zero custom menus in FMP 8.5 Advanced.

The Menu Set is [File Default].

I have attached a screen capture that shows the symptom.

Think there was an apple in the middle of the menubar in early versions of OSX. hmmm very puzzling.

Have you tried the file on another machine to see if its file specific or application/system specific.
