Auto Typing?

Featured Replies

I am making a DB to enter invoices. I am entering every line of each invoice. (Each product I buy) Since there will be many duplicate products bought, is there a way to make the field recognize a description already entered and start typing along with you, like Quicken? This will cut down typing.

Thanks in advance

You could try much simpler things first... like the pop-up lists and menus that FileMaker Pro features. Not too hard to do...

There will evetually be tens of thousands of entries

Vaughan, may mean using a Popup list based on a field relationship, this way you will just see a single item for each duplicate

once again a great site to the assitance, www.databasepros.com . (FMForums has has help me far more than that one though wink.gif ).

Before i go on, i would probably look for a different way to do this, it works, but it can be VERY annoying and it uses a looping script that can eat up memory usage or whatever scripts eat up.

go to the aforementioned databasepros.com , click resources and search for "clairvoy" (stands for claivoyance). and download the file.

but really, look for another way, after playing with this you will probably notice it COULD BE (not neccessarily depending on the setup) much more annoying then scrolling through 10,000 items on a list.
