July 13, 200124 yr Hi there, I've recently put together a UBB/vBulletin style forum system for my site, created in Filemaker. I'm hoping to find out if there's any interest in actually developing it to the point where I could offer it as a solution (for a very small fee ) If some of you guys could pop over to my site and flick through the forums and let me know what you think? TIA

One of my old customers wanted a simple forum which I was able to do. I just expanded a great deal on what I did and put it into my site...

It is not bad, but I would have to ask: "Why use an FMP solution for this kind of thing?". FMP is not really designed for this and it requires a whole FMP web server system. There are a whole slew of UBB type of solutions that are all Perl/CGI and are usable on ANY webserver with no need of a database. Now I suppose that I could see the use for this if it were used in some kind of customer service/tech support role. July 31, 200124 yr Not bad, I like it... What admin features are there via web or is everything for admin FMP?
July 31, 200124 yr Author Heya OW, Well I've just programmed into the web side some remove post, close thread and remove thread capabilities (only to authorised admins), I'm working on an edit post system, but atm traffic is low so there's not much need. More or less anything is capable from the back end, all it takes is the right know-how
August 14, 200124 yr I checked out your solution on your site, and I have to say I'm very impressed! I'd have to say that I think that use of your system would usually be by FMPro enthusiasts only, rather than business (i.e. paying customers). I would be very interested in seeeing you develop an area of your web-site, discussing and probably releasing the files that made it all possible. I'd note that this is a great way to establish extreeme credibility in the FMPro industry. I think that showing everyone what you have developed would increase everyone's understanding of the possiblilities availible in FileMaker Pro when linked with some incredible ingenuity! Gratz!
