Working for a small company where I am the only one who knows what Filemaker is, keeping up to date with each version is almost impossible. How does one justify an expenditure like this? lol, having the ability to create a chart from my data hardly seems a good reason to spend another few hundred for V11

Many companies skip every other version unless there is some compelling reason to upgrade such as feature or OS compatibility.

Get onto maintenance. It reduces your upgrade costs considerably.

As for the "keeping up" part when it comes to product knowledge and practices, there is documentation. And there is training, including on-line training. And there is FM Forums.
