MariaAux Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 I searched for hours and found threads such as this one ; The threads explain nicely how to export files to paths and then attach them, but I have a far more simple problem. In my 'Send Mail' Option window, the 'Specify' Attachment is simply greyed out. (See attachment - no pun intended) Thus, I cannot specify a field - I can only choose one file to attach. What have I done wrong? Thanks so much in advance
MariaAux Posted January 3, 2012 Author Posted January 3, 2012 Thanks, yes, Once I check the box, I have to select a file to attach. However, Each record in my database has a different file that needs to be attached to the email. Thus, I would really like to specify a container filed where all these different files reside. Any ideas?
dansmith65 Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Before the "Send Mail" step, you could export the contents of your container field to a file. You could also use a variable for your file path: http://www.filemaker.com/11help/html/create_db.8.32.html#1030395
MariaAux Posted January 5, 2012 Author Posted January 5, 2012 Ok, I understand that, but is the 'Specify' button also always greyed out and unavailable for you and everyone else without the option to specify a Container field? Why Did filemaker put that button there? Thanks in advance
dansmith65 Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 is the 'Specify' button also always greyed out and unavailable for you and everyone else without the option to specify a Container field? I don't understand this question. Why Did filemaker put that button there? The "Attach file" checkbox : so you know if a file has been specified, and can de-select it to not attach a previously specified file. The "Specify" button: so you can specify which file to attach.
