aldan Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 hi,  on Windows 8.1, Filemaker 11.0.1 installed successfully, but when trying to update it to .2 or .3, I get a window that seem to be a manual to a command line (see attached)  I've tried compatibility mode, troubleshooter... no luck  any suggestions?  thanks alex
Wim Decorte Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Are you trying to run the msi or the exe of the updater?
aldan Posted December 2, 2013 Author Posted December 2, 2013 as downloaded from filemaker, it unpacks in a directory then it executes the setup.exe file
aldan Posted December 2, 2013 Author Posted December 2, 2013 in the unpacked directory of the updater there is another directory called Files, in which there is a msp file (msp, not msi) by running that file directly, I was able to update. Weird. Even more weird, here is what filext.com says about msp: "The MSP file type is primarily associated with 'Paint' by Microsoft Corporation." I guess we shouldn't be wondering why it works when it works... at least not when it comes to Microsoft. thanks alex
