I wasn't sure exactly which forum to drop this question, but here goes:

 

I would like for my users to be able to connect to a remote database directly from an icon on the Windows desktop. Is there a way to pass in the (remote) file to open to make that happen?

A much easier approach is to use the FIleMaker Snapshot Link. it's a small file that sits on desktop or wherever else you want to put it.  Double click it and it takes you to the file and presents the credentials challenge.
