I need to be able to type the first few letters and have the value list scroll letter by letter. For example, I have many universities in my customer database and need to locate one near the bottom of the list. I am currently using Lotus Approach, which allows the list to scroll alphabetically as the letters are typed. When I attempt this with FM 5.5, the list keeps jumping to whatever letter is pressed next. When I press "U" the list goes to the first "U". When I press "N" the lest jumps to the first "N".

You should be able to do this, although it will be sensitive to the speed in which you type the letters. Typing then in quick succession should work, it does for me. Typing them with a pause does not.

You are correct. If I type the first few letters quickly, it seems to work. If I type slower (like a normal person), it doesn't. I wonder if this is an oversight on the part of the developers.

I don't think so. Imagine if FM never cleared the previous selection!
