colleent Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 I have a Filemaker Pro 6.0v4 question. We have lost our installation disk. If I purchase a new 6.0v4 disk and install it will it be able to see and access hosted files that are on a server from the previous disk?
mr_vodka Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 You should be able to view all *.fp5 files. It is not dependent on which license copy of FM6 that it was orig developed with. As long as you know your administrative passwords, you should be able to view and modify the files. Also, if you have a valid license key, you should be able to get a copy of FileMaker 6 and then use your old license key without having to purchase the entire application again. P.S. Do not forget to stop serving the files prior to modifying them.
IdealData Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 FWIW all support for FM6 ceased after 20th Dec 2006. This included all media copies etc.
LaRetta Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 It is possible a copy can be found somewhere, such as ebay but I'd really push for upgrade.
mr_vodka Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Yes, but if you look around, you can still find copies to purchase or download. If he has valid license keys that he owns, he should still be able to use them without repurchasing the application from somewhere else like a 3rd party.
