mleiser Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Without changing anything, it seems that I can open an FM9 file in FM11 with the only difference being the bar on type rather than on the side. Does that mean that switching to 11 is painless, or should I look out for something. Also, I would want to switch to FM11 server as well. Is that seamless as well?
mleiser Posted July 7, 2010 Author Posted July 7, 2010 I would like to add one more question to this. Can I have some workstations on 9 and some on 11 while switching and access the same programs with no ill effects?
Lee Smith Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 (edited) FileMaker is backwards compatible. This means that you should have no problems reading 7, 8, 8.5, 9 and 10 Files. Older versions require being converted (2,3,4,5 and 6). However, if you create a file in 11, and use one of the 11 functions, you can still open the file, but 11 functions and features will not work. You can mix versions, but the new features will not work in the older versions. HTH Lee Edited July 7, 2010 by Guest
