Newbies Daveyoneusa Posted December 21, 2013 Newbies Posted December 21, 2013 Hi, thanks for any help you can provide. Long-time FM user, but it's been a while since I did any database development. Just upgraded to FM12 Advance from FM 4.0! Set up a database back then and have been using it ever since. Â I like the Event Management Starter Solution as a base for tracking diners and retreats we host at work. But we don't have any Contributors, we only have Guests. I would like to set up a Contacts Details layout that is exactly the same as the one provided in the Event Management solution with one change. I would like the portal on the bottom of the layout to reflect the Events that the Contact has been a Guest at, rather than a Contributor to. I just can seem to get the Guest relationship right. Â Thanks for any advice! Â Dave
eos Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Aren't both cases of the “person has something to do with an event” scenario? Then the basic relationship, as registered via the join table, is the same. In the Starter Solution file the understanding is that a person being in the join table has the ‘role’ of ‘contributor’ in the related event. All that should be required for you to change this is modifying the user interface (and probably rename/add/delete some table/TO and field names) to reflect that you're registering ‘guests’ instead; e.g. substitute “Contributor for Event” with “Guest at Event” etc.
Newbies Daveyoneusa Posted December 27, 2013 Author Newbies Posted December 27, 2013 Thanks! I have been trying without success. It seems like the tables are set up the same way for both guests and contributors so I'm having trouble seeing why I can't get it to work. I'll keep trying... Thanks for your advice! Dave
