August 26, 201510 yr Hello FM community, Just what I hope is a simple question; Is it possible to hide a FileMaker Server from the available Servers list (Please see attached image.) I know we have the option to "List only the database each use is authorized to access" but this does not hide the FileMaker Servers we have in our network. We would like to hide this as well. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
August 27, 201510 yr Author Thanks Wim, but we are running the FileMaker server on windows machines. Isn't Bonjour a dependency for windows installs?
August 27, 201510 yr It is optional. You can uninstall it, though then you would manually need to add the server IP for your clients. Edited August 27, 201510 yr by mr_vodka
August 27, 201510 yr Author Thanks for the quick reply! That shouldn't be an issue as we already give them a .fmp file as a shortcut to connect the users to our solution. Thank you both for your input~!
August 28, 201510 yr Why don't you use a SnapShot link instead? It's much less fragile. BTW, none of this "hiding" business actually works to prevent access to a server if a user knows either its IP address or its qualified name. What is the actual reason for wanting to "hide" the server? Steven
September 4, 201510 yr If it's anything like my experience, hiding the fact that you use FileMaker server from your clients, lol
