LS,

I am trying to enter a gmail account data for the smtp-data in FMServer. It is however failing on me. I was able to configure the account in my email program with these settings, so what gives ?

Any takers ?

I know when connecting to Gmail servers with our email plugin you have to go into the Gmail account settings under Security and click the option to "allow less secure apps". Google considers any app that does not use OAUTH 2 to be "less secure" so this may be what is causing your problem.

This has already been done. The FMserver test mail complains about wrong smtp settings. I have, however, just copy/pasted from a working connection from my mail.

I suspect some other fowl play, but can't figure out what

I just tested with my gmail account and was able to send the email. The settings I used were: Server address: smtp.gmail.com , port: 465 , SMTP Authentication: Plain Text , check the option for using SSL, do not check option for TLS and of course user name and password.  Are you using these same settings?

When specifying SMTP values in your FileMaker what are you specifying for : Connection encryption (TLS/SSL?) and Authentication (Plain Password?)

Hi all,

It seems that the entered smtp settings are working ; it is just the test-smtp button that seems to be failing.

Thanks for all your efforts !
