new_user Posted April 10, 2004 Posted April 10, 2004 I'm a new user and just installed FileMaker Pro 7. I want to use it as an online help desk for 3 technical staff, to keep track of open troubleshooting calls. I printed out the entire manual that came with the installation CD's, which directed to select EDIT / PREFERENCES / APPLICATION to enable plug-ins. But, when I run EDIT / PREFERENCES there is no APPLICATION option. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks. FileMaker Version: 7 Platform: Windows XP
Newbies middleground Posted April 10, 2004 Newbies Posted April 10, 2004 I'm having a similar problem, but under Mac OS-X.3.2 The web plugin is not showing up in the list to enable (only autoupdate). I checked and the file exists but not in list. end result is can't start web publishing. Any help appreciated. Thanks
Newbies middleground Posted April 10, 2004 Newbies Posted April 10, 2004 OK- found my solution was just use port 2000 and that worked. Some info in this thread may be helpful http://www.fmforums.com/threads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/97149/page/0/view/collapsed/sb/5/o/all/fpart/1 Thanks
new_user Posted April 11, 2004 Author Posted April 11, 2004 Thanks for the idea. I tried it, but still did not get an Application option, as the manual said I would. I'm getting discouraged with this program. I read a good review of it recently, bought the program, printed out the entire manual that came with the program, but find myself wondering if the official manual that came with the program is for the version of program that I have. Will Posted April 12, 2004 Posted April 12, 2004 Hi - Are you logged in with administrator privliges when you try to enable plug-ins? Have you tried reinstalling filemaker? Not sure if this could be a factor but see if the default Windows XP firewall is enabled - if it is disable it.
