Is it possible to generate the IWP pages then just change the generated code slighty to customise the solution or if you require customised pages do you have to write them from scratch yourself?

IWP is all or nothing. If you want a page to be custom, then you need to do the whole thing. Also you need Server Advanced to do any CWP.

"ditto" what Reed said. If you want to serve something as a static web page, you can probably do what you want, but not as dynamic.
