HELP ANYONE

Howdy... I'm surprised at how generic the message is but it might be something like a PORT conflict with other web server software, PERMISSIONS issue, or missing plug-in. Sorry, I don't have 7 or Windows so don't know how you can check things, but in FMP4-6 you can enable the Web Companion plug-in and configure it for your usage. Also, FileMaker runs on a user level (vs. system level), so make sure you are logged in as a user with appropriate access.

Hi,

I started getting message as well. It seemed to occur after I turned of the apache webserver (that's the only think I can think of different that I did). I just started using FM Pro.

Does anyone out there know if the IWP requires a webserver (like apache) to be running on the machine? Or does FM Pro have a built-in webserver?

In FM4-6, FileMakers' Web Companion handled it all... no additional web server software was necessary. It was great for FM stuff but did not have the adaptability and mods of Apache so you could not change anything. If you wanted to use Apache w/FM data, you had to use middleware like PHP... I think FM also had a utility called Web Server Connector, too.

I imagine FM7 is the same, but improved. 7 is switching to XML/XLST so custom CDML solutions no longer work. From what I hear, IWP users will only be happier with 7 as many things have been fixed/added.
