October 11, 200421 yr Newbies Hi all, THE PROBLEM I am publishing two databases with Server 7 Advanced. One is the "FMServer_Sample_Config.fp7" database that comes with FMP and the other is a simple database that I created. Both of these databases are being served up by FMP 7 Server and can be accessed using remote copies of FMP 7. However, neither database is accessible via the Web using FMP 7 Server Advanced. Both databases can be published via Instant Web Publishing (individually) by using FMP 7, but not by using FMP 7 Server Advanced. WHAT I'VE TRIED I've tried turning on Network Sharing and Web Sharing for the individual database files and that doesn't seem to have any effect. I've also successfully registered the Web Publishing Engine with Server 7 Advanced and it's IP address does indeed appear in the FileMaker Server Admin application's Configure pane in the Clients tab. So it seems like everything is set up correctly, but the databases aren't being shared over the web. MY CONFIG I'm running in the single computer configuration (one computer that's running FMP 7 Server and FMP 7 Server Advanced Web Publishing Engine on the same computer). The computer is a G4 system running MacOS X 10.3.5. I'm using Personal Web Sharing as the web server. ANY SUGGESTIONS Any suggestions from you experts out there would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Scott
October 11, 200421 yr Hi Scott, In "Define Account Privileges" make sure you have an Extended privilege called [fmiwp] (access via Instant Web Publishing) and that it has at least one privilege set access on! By the way are you able to configure the Web engine console? If not check that you have FMP 7 Server Version 70v1a, it's an updater that fixes connection if you upgraded from FMP 7 Server to FMP 7 Server Advanced HTH, Bench
October 11, 200421 yr My problem is similar to this, I can actually see my databases, and can try and log into them, however, none of the passwords work for me in IWP, it works fine if I connect to it using Lasso, and if I open it remotly from FM, however, IWP won't work, it seems as if my passwords aren't working right. I have it set up to use the passwords from the actuall databases, but its not working. Anyone else had this problem?
October 11, 200421 yr Author Newbies Thank you! You were right! I had to turn on IWP access for the file and then it worked! Awesome. Thank you again!
November 19, 200421 yr sometimes the IWP web access will die for no apparent reasons. The database is sill online and can be access by a filemaker client. In cases like this just restart to 2 web publishing services. Restarting the web publishing engine using the web config doesn't work. When in doubt restart fileserver and filemaker web publishing.
