Newbies lebowski Posted November 23, 2004 Newbies Posted November 23, 2004 I'm debating about upgrading from FM 6 to FM 7. I read somewhere that FM 6 only allowed a certain number of people to access the DB at one time or per 12 hours. Does FM 7 have any restrictions on web usage? I would really like to know if buying FM 7 is the right choice. The free download has the IWP disabled so I cant try it out. Thanks for all your help.
Reed Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 IWP in plain FM6 had a restriction of 10 IP addresses accessing it in 12 hours. You needed Filemaker Unlimited to surpass this restriction. In FM7, the limit has changed to 5 concurrent sessions for IWP with plain FM. This is actually an improvement over the old version, esp. for short session times. To increase capacity now, you need Server Advanced, which can do 100 concurrent sessions, and capacity can be increased further if you use CWP w/o sessions. BTW, I just tried it and IWP does work with the trial version of FMP on 10.3.5
Newbies lebowski Posted November 23, 2004 Author Newbies Posted November 23, 2004 Thanks Reed. The Customer Service Rep for FM told me that the IWP was disabled on the trial version. I called them this morning and the new Customer Service Rep walked me through it. You are right IWP does work in the trial version.
