Is there a way to suppress the optional search operators window that comes up in IWP when the a search page loads?

Also, restating a poorley written question that I posted days ago..

An IWP search results seems to render in a table view that is not from a layout that I can edit, i.e I'd like to add some minimal directions to the results page (like find your name on the list below and click on it, dummy) Pls notice that Im adding these instructions on this page (partially blocked by a operators box that I dont need) since the results page that follows is not editable as far as I can tell..

thanks for any ideas! :D
