In Need of Preview Mode

Featured Replies

Is there any way to setup Preview Mode in when using IWP? I have a report setup, but it has sub-summary and trailing grand summary parts and it isn't showing correctly when viewing it through the IWP.

Please help!!!

Hi Sarah

Im in the same boat. I've got a couple of nice screens/reports that work well in preview mode, esp with things sliding up, and I cant replicate this with IWP as it doesn't support preview mode.

I am therefore considering producing reports as static pages with my html formatting on the fly, but im not sure how this is going to work in a workgroup environment. The other thinkg I was considering, was producing just my reports using CWP...but thats another learning curve...I hope I dont have to go.....

This stinks!! Wonder why preview mode isn't supported. Thanks for the input and good luck.

If I had to guess, I would imagine that Preview mode isn't supported in IWP because it would require knowing something about the page it's going to--which IWP can't provide, since that's handled by the browser.

Instead of using summary fields in your report, try creating calculation fields using the the GetSummary() function. These will display on your report.

I know it's been a really long time since the last post on this subject, but I was wondering if someone could give me a little more insight on bonngo's response. Would this actually work? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm at present in contact with Sarah off forum on this topic, and I can't help feeling that this presents a challenge to make happen.

What I wish to know is if you have made any progress or not, and I can't see if your problem is identical to what Sarah have presented me with.

What if you both descripe what kind of Summaries or organizations of your data ...that apparently requires preview mode. I have some ideas to ways to accomplish the same in browsemode - and have made Sarah a template. It's a rough that in the end should use mergefields to offset graphic elements to make the illusion perfect.

There is a snag to it though, how would other users react to the newly created summary holder records...well investigate the template!

Sarah,

One among a whole herd of users disappointed that IWP doesn't suport PREVIEW mode!

.

Did you ever get a workable solution to the problem???

.

I wish you all the luck in the world! (FileMaker Inc. doesn't seem to realize what a BIG [color:red]problem this is!) If I come up with anything, I will post an answer for you. Hopefully you can do the same.
