IWP>CWP>EMail suggestions

Featured Replies

I have been around the boards and back and am totally confused as to the best way to generate smtp emails via IWP. I am going to elaborate so as to hopefully (1.) find a solution (2.) help clear the air for others w/ similar predicaments (3.) hope that plug-in developers, Board members, or FMI will involve themselves for what I am sure is an enormous need by many users of IWP and FMP.

Scenario 1.) User creates record in IWP (one of the fields in that record is email address)> User clicks a button in IWP>Button generates an email BEHIND THE SCENES (ie: no pop-up window, html page, or any user interaction whatsoever)> User receives email in their email client.

Scenario 2.) The email that was generated needs to have a link in the body of the email that when clicked performs a FMP script. This script will basically find that user record only, set a status field to "active" (basically validating the email address) and continue on to perform another behind the scenes email as part of the script.

I have been told to use FMTPit. However, this plug-in is not compatible w/ FMSA.

I have been told to use FMButler. However, my ISP is leery of a Java based plug-in app and I was concerned that my ISP never heard of it.

I have been told to use FX.PHP, XML/XSL...

I have been told It can be done, it can't be done.....

Please, help! I am runing in circles and beginning to foam at the mouth! Thanks in advance!

1) can be done. But it is impossible without popup window, at least with the IWP incarnation of FMSA7 or FMSA8.

For a quick and dirty solution see your Emailing with XML in the XML/XSLT forum.
