Mixing IWP and CWP

I've developed a website using Instant Web Publishing, but wish to link to a specific record in the database from an external html page and display it using IWP. I know I can do it by running a startup script and using the Get (AccountName) function, but that doesn't really work for me. What I'm hoping to do, is create a CWP query and pass that to my IWP solution. Is that possible? If so, could someone construct the query for me, I'm not very familar with CWP.
