Newbies sandra qu Posted November 15, 2006 Newbies Posted November 15, 2006 We are about to upgrade an office to FM Pro 8.5 and FM Server 8. There are, at least, two users who want remote access. Would I then simply allow Web Publishing through one FM Pro? It is my understanding that FM Server does not have WPI. We can't afford FM Server Adv. and would prefer not using web hosting. --san
Søren Dyhr Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 It depends on the platform you wish to access it from, is it a palm, mobile telephone or internet café. It seems like, you need 2-3 copies of a clientversion of fm8.5 one for each user, because developing for IWP is much more developer resource demanding than straight forward server-client deployment, since a lot of matters needs another way of dealing with the stuff. It's posible/could be done, but listen to this podcast: http://podcast.Adatasol.com/media/Filemaker_PodCast_05162006.mp3 ...and in particular how much more time it will take to get running. The IWP solution needs more concurrent users than the two you have in the field, to be a cheeper solution than traditional deployment. --sd
