In my database I allow all users, groups and passwords to edit existing records, but I use instant web pub, and although there is an edit button, when I edit a record and click save I get a msg saying I don't have rights to do that. Bleh, anyone know a reason why this happens?

I'm too stupid to know anything about Instant. Never dealt with it. In Custom that would mean that I failed to set that privilege in Web Security.fp(3 or 5).

You might check and make sure you did not accidentally omit the dot or put in a space that did not belong.

It ended up being a format issue. Apparently there is a bug in the program a guy at filemaker told me. I changed the layout and I could all of the sudden edit. Wow...
