Long text in portal

I have a layout with a portal on it. The portal rows are NOTES that can be added by users. Sometimes the notes are long and the text is displayed in an edit box with a scroll bar.

However, with IWP, the scroll bar does not appear and the text is simply truncated to the height of the edit box. What is the preferred way to display such information without truncating the text?

Also, is there a way to show all text from each note (the related records) without the need for a scroll bar and without simply adding a ton of extra space just in case it's needed? Ideally, I'd like to simply have them all listed--without extra white space--one after the other.
