April 16, 200223 yr Hi, I am new in this forum and I need help with this: I have installed FM Pro 5 to publish database on the Web and everything was fine. To accomodate a larger number of connexion we have decided to install FM 5.5 Unlimited. The problem is when I try to publish my db with 5.5, FM freeze and I cannot access my db from the web. I have installed the latest version of Web Companion 5.5v3 with no success. After reading a lot of letter in this forum I think I might know what the problem is, on the same server I have Lotus Domino Server installed. Could this be the reason? Is FM 5.5 Unlimited more "fragile" than FM Pro 5?? Thanks for your help Brigitte
April 16, 200223 yr Web processing can be intensive. Use a dedicated CPU as the FMPU 5.5 machine. Old Advance Man
April 16, 200223 yr Author Thank you "Old Man"! ;-) But why, with the same setup, does it work with FMP 5??
April 16, 200223 yr Brigitte: What O/S is FM Unlimited 5.5 installed on? What browser(s) are you using to access your database? Will
April 16, 200223 yr Author Will, FM Pro Unlimited 5.5 is installed on a Win2k server. I tried both Netscape and Internet Explorer to access the db. I'm not sure but it may be Netscape 5 on a Mac that caused the problem.
April 16, 200223 yr Brigitte: You say you are not sure but you think Netscape crashed it. Have you ever succesfully connected to the database without it freezing Filemaker 5.5 or does it happen every time regardless of browser used? This should be simple enough to test. Will
April 16, 200223 yr Author Will, We have been successful in connecting to the database via the Web. When I put the db "on line" it works for a while then it stops. When I say that I think it is Netscape on a Mac it is because when we test it, there's a few people trying to connect from different computer using different navigator. I try to connect with my Mac with Netscape and it always seems to be around the same time that the db stop being available. Anyway, I put FMPU 5.5 on another server with NT4 and it is the only application running so I will try it for a while and see what it does. Thanks for your help Briigtte
April 16, 200223 yr Are you running FMP 5.5v2 -- it's the "v2" that's important. If it's "v1" then download the update fom http://www.filemaker.com
April 19, 200223 yr Author I installed FMP 5.5v2 and it looks like it solved the problem. Thanks Vaughan! Brigitte
April 19, 200223 yr Did you check to see that the ports you assigned to Domino and FileMaler don't conflict. I assume Domino will be using port 80. Try port 591 for FM. I have the exact amse configuration as you descripe (FM Unlimited, Domino on the same machine), and have no problems.
