Export records from IWP/Web Interface

Featured Replies

I have a relational database that I publish internally via IWP. I am on a Mac and the user I am trying to post the data for is on a PC. I have tried several scripts (Export Records, Save as Excel File) to allow this user to export the data to excel only to realize that these script steps are not web compatible. Is there any way to export records through the web interface? I saw a previous post Exporting where the question was posed, but there was no satisfactory answer. Is it possible to create a way to export to excel in IWP - am I missing something simple??

No! The closest you'll get is probably this:

But thats documents, so some sort of robotting should make it and store it via this new tool.

Ok- I understand that it is not possible through the Filemaker script commands - is there anyone who has created a VB script or something similar that allows a user on a PC to export data from the web interface - I saw that a Filemaker group talked about calling unsupported scripts in IWP. Any takers? I'm getting desperate for a solution that doesn't require additional software.

Perhaps this is something to consider:

...while bearing in mind that, you need to make a portalized selfjoin to exceede the max of 25 records in the found set IWP allows in listmode.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, my user is on Internet Explorer on a PC. Is there a solution that can work in an enterprise environment that doesn't require additional software?

Sorry, but it's the sad truth many of us have recognized, that development of IWP solutions, with the primary goal to save licenses ...is "pennywise but pound foolish" :therethere:

This is one of the most common IWP related questions that our company has been asked in the past and we certainly understand your pain, beccamac. However finally, FMWebschool has decided to do something about this problem - and with a bit of experimentation and ingenuity a plug-in that does just that was born!

We found that ultimately there was no good solution within FileMaker scripting itself for this issue, especially due to limitations in constructing container field items that are vital in order to export data in specific file formats - therefore a plug-in was required. We called this plug-in IWP Export since it does just that and nothing else - simple and efficient. It is very easy to setup and you are welcome to take a look and let us know what you think (a free trial version can be downloaded immediately):

I watched the video and there was no mention of the ablity to export things like quicktime movies in container fields...is that possible?

I think the plugin is great, just curious about exporting data from a container field.

Thanks
