Newbies gcesc Posted August 23, 2007 Newbies Posted August 23, 2007 We're trying to access a FM7 database via IWP - database is on a MacG4 running FM7ServerAdv (with update v4). We're having problems seemingly associated with web browsers. I can access the database successfully on OS-X Macs using Safari or IE 5.2, and am able to click into the various fields to enter data. However, when trying to access via a Mac using Firefox, or on a Windows XP box using IE6, I can log in to the database, but am unable to click into the various fields to enter data. Would appreciate any suggestions as to what the problem is and a solution - thanks
Søren Dyhr Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 IWP'ed solutions, are unforutnately very choosy, when it comes to the accessing browsers ...perhaps would a reworking into a CWP'ed solution be the answer to your needs? --sd
Newbies gcesc Posted August 26, 2007 Author Newbies Posted August 26, 2007 Thank you for your response. So, is part of what I'm reading into this that IWP isn't all its cracked up to be?
Søren Dyhr Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I would say that the limitations, have been broadcasted appropriately ... but skipping the documentation, could cause higher than reasonable expectations - read what actually is said/written: http://www.filemaker.com/downloads/pdf/fmp85_instant_web_pub.pdf (page 19) ...and it isn't just the javascripting, which have been unchecked??? --sd
Søren Dyhr Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I did today stumble over this Firefox plugin, maybe there is something usefull in it for your case??? https://addons.mozilla.org/da/firefox/addon/3694 --sd
Newbies katinak Posted October 5, 2007 Newbies Posted October 5, 2007 I am having a problem with IWP. I am not using server or server advanced on this computer yet. We haven't had time to set it up. So, I set up IWP using 8.02. It is a super simple, search for your record using their id number then go to a layout and enter two pieces of information using a checkbox and a radio button. Then they close the file. That's all it is doing--a simple script. So, it works fine on a PC (it is hosted on a PC) and then on MacOSX versions it won't work with Safari IE or Firefox. It works as far as seeing the file, logging in, and even starting the script but when you get to the screen for them to enter the data, it won't let them enter anything. It just acts like a locked screen. I have set up access and even opened it up to full access for guests for now. It still won't work. Please advise. THANKS!!!
Vaughan Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 "I set up IWP using 8.02" Start off by updating it to FMP 8.0v3. See if it's a bug that was fixed a couple of years ago. http://www.filemaker.com/support/
