15 secs edit response in IWP solution.

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I've web enabled my database using the client FM 8.0. When I go to click in any of the fields on one of my layouts (i.e. edit mode) it takes around 15 seconds to be able to start entering data. I'm fairly certain this will drive our sales staff crazy. Could anyone give me a hint as to what could be causing the slowness? I have spent quite a number of hours trying to find a solution on the forum, but to no avail.

As some extra info ... the layout that this is happening to is based on one main table called particpants, and then a set of tabs that holds portals showing various other related tables to do with marketing, courses etc. I do remember reading somewhere that portals are not a good thing for IWP solutions? Is this correct? Can someone point me in the direction of some good documentation on making the most efficient IWP solution ? Any help would be much appreciated.

Also BTW I have a super fast upload broadband connection. The number of records in the layout I describe above is around 1,800. Could this be the issue?

Do a test: make a backup of the web layout, then delete stuff (like the afore-mentioned portals) and see what happens.

Thanks Vaughan. I'm hearing that it is a trial and error type of thing. Time and persistence is what I'll be needing.

Have a good weekend. A

I certainly will. It will take some time as I only work on it when I get a spare few hours each week.
