IWP value list/portal/sum() question

I have a portal which contains a value list as check boxes. I have a calculation that creates a price when 2 of the values are checked this in turn is used in a sum(valuelistItems::myTable) to get a total. This works perfectly in filemaker but does not calculate in IWP. When a check box is checked the submit and cancel buttons appear in the inspector. When submitted it still does not calculate.

Any ideas?
