Ok. This is my first post here and I'm embarrassed but I'm at a complete loss on this:

I am building a small app for a friend of mine and am stuck on the simplest and most idiotic problem. I cant seem to get the fields so they are clickable. By clickable I mean, behave like a normal field does, ie. you click on the field and the cursor becomes active within that field. I am in an active session, a new record is created by the "open" script and the cursor starts in the correct field (tried both in Safari and Firefox). If I click outside that field then the cursor disappears an no clicking on that or any other field will bring it back. Only way is to tab to the field. I have tried every conceivable and even some unlikely variables including field behavior settings. The anticipation of the obvious solution is almost painful but I can't figure it out. In my defense, I have not done IWP in a zillion years and when I went back to my last solution which was a rather large motorcycle racing scoring system I realized all input is through pulldown menus and not standard fields. Any help is much appreciated.

Ok,

Now that it's not 3am I ran some control tests and it seems like there is something wrong with the specific layout I am in. A virgin layout with simple fields works as expected. I guess I will start changing variables and see what is causing this behavior. I'll post what it was as soon as I figure it out here. No wonder nobody answered.

As annoyed with myself as I am, I will still post the solution just in case some other FMP guru finds him/her self stumped by such a stupid little oversight:

The reason I could not click on the fields is that IWP only recognizes the visual result of setting an object as transparent. In other words, if you have a box around a few fields as a design element within the application and set it to be transparent with a border there is no problem. You can not only see the fields "below" it but they behave exactly as expected. If you, however, publish this layout using IWP, then the fields are visible but technically still below the box and therefore can't be clicked on. That is why tab was working to get to them but not clicking. Doh!
