Hi

I was going along brilliantly on my Mac running FMP 8.5v1 on 10.5.5.

IWP worked fine. Someone said there was an update to 8.5 and I should download. I did. And v2 broke IWP. I know you've heard the story a thousand times.

So I deleted 8.5v2 in the Application folder and found the preferences folder in the library. I trashed that as well.

I reinstalled 8.5v1.

Funny thing - IWP works the first time I start it up after the install. However, if I close FMP and open the file again - I get the IWP error:

"...Instant Web Publishing could not be started."

I've done this process a half-dozen times.

Is there anyway to get back to 8.5v1 and still have IWP?

Thanks

Only FMP 8.5v2 can run on Mac OS X 10.5 (not 8.5v1) but the IWP is broken. FMI never fixed it for 8.5; if you want IWP on 10.5 you need to use FMP 9.0v3.

Somebody recently posted a hack to make IWP run in 8.5, it may have been on these forums.

Found the workaround.

First uninstall Filemaker 8.5v2 by deleting the application folder and the preference file.

Reinstall Filemaker 8.5v1 but DO NOT run.

Make a copy of the file 'FM Web Publishing' which is in the Web Support folder. Move this file to a safe location.

Each time (after the first run) you run 8.5v1 it will make changes to this file breaking IWP. All you need to do it prior to opening up FMP is copy this file to the Web Support folder (NOT MOVE) and overwrite the file that is there.

This will allow IWP to work for that session. If you close FMP you will need to recopy the file again.
