DamienM3 Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Is there a way to open a database file automatically as in set it as default database when you launch FMP? Thanks
mr_vodka Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 No but you can use an opener file or a shortcut to the file that you want.
DamienM3 Posted January 21, 2009 Author Posted January 21, 2009 Where do I find opener file? Would a shortcut as in a alias work pinned in the dock? I will try the Alias now but I am more interested in this opener file! Thanks!
DamienM3 Posted January 21, 2009 Author Posted January 21, 2009 Could I use a alias and a automator action to open the database at a select time?
Tanner Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 An opener file is a simple filemaker database that only has a script that runs when you open the file. So you could create this "opener file" and make a script in that file that opens your desired database. The ability to run a script on startup is located under the "File" menu in "File Options". You will either need to create a new "Data Source" to the desired file or you will need to use the open URL script step and use the URL scheme to open the filemaker file. Keep in mind that you will still need to open the opener file for this to work. Unfortunately there is no "Filemaker Way" of setting a default database file to open when the program itself is launched.
