ron G Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 I am running 12 v 3 advanced in Windows 7  The situation is pretthy simple.  I am on a layout. But pressing a button, the user goes into PREVIEW. This works.  However, in Windows the printer icon at the top of the formatting bar / tool bar is grayed out and not functional.  In OSX it works as expected.  Same script   Ideas are appreciated.  Thanks    Â
fmbug Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Hi Ron, Â No problem is there... Â Here I am attaching a screenshow which will help you in getting an idea, how you can overcome it. You only need to select the object, then in inspector window, you need to go to Position tab, and then perform the same operation as per screenshot. Use Hide When Printing check box.
ron G Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 I can not get that to work. The icon is grayed out because I am using Custom Menu. If I change back to the Standard Menu everything works. Got any ideas?
Rick Whitelaw Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 If there'no Print command in your custom menu the print icon will be grayed out. Add a print command to the custom menu. Also, there is no need to go to preview mode to print. I rarely go into Preview mode.
ron G Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 True. In fact, there seems to be a prerequisite that the Custom Menu *MUST* be present for the ICON to work. Thanks for the help. Ron
ron G Posted January 26, 2013 Author Posted January 26, 2013 Here is an interesting development.  I added 'Save as PDF' AND 'Save as Excel' to the layout custom menu.  It works 'EXCEPT' in Preview. In Preview the Save as PDF shows but the Save as Excel does not. Likewise on the Status toolbar, the Excel icon is grayed out.  What's going on?   Thanks  Â
LaRetta Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 On Windows 7, 12.0v3 I cannot replicate this issue. How did you add them back? Otherwise you would need to provide the file.
Lee Smith Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Are we talking about the Print Preview in the file, or the Print to Preview as the selection in the Printer dialog when printing the file?
LaRetta Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I thought we were talking about the Save As Excel not displaying as available on the Status Toolbar (while in Preview mode), LOL.
Lee Smith Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Well, since Alfred E. hasn't responded, who knows.
ron G Posted February 19, 2013 Author Posted February 19, 2013 I thought we were talking about the Save As Excel not displaying as available on the Status Toolbar (while in Preview mode), LOL. Right. But, I think I need to somehow add a 'Save as Excel' feature to my custom menu?
