Hello -

I searched what I could but I am completely new to these forums so I apologize if I missed another thread.

My question is whether it is feasible for a FM professional to take over an existing server given how customizable I understand it to be. Also, assuming it is, where would I go about contacting and vetting said professionals?

I can give more information about or specific Filemaker system and current support person as needed.

Thanks in advance

Taking over the management of an existing solution deployed on FM the first criteria for me would be FMP certification.

Any competent / experienced developer should b able to take over the task.

It's not unusual at all for a new developer to take on a system that was created by someone else. I agree, certification is a good indicator. Although many competent FileMaker developers are not certified, I suspect there are few incompetent developers who are. It's a tough test.

Another place to look is here: http://developer.filemaker.com/search/

Developers listed there have been vetted by FileMaker Inc.

I also suggest contacting your local FileMaker User Group for a referral.
