Sorry if this is a dumb question, Is it possible to sort the results on a single page one or multiple times (Using the [FMP-Link: s]), and then if the user clicks the back button on the browser, be returned to the original page that the query was initiated from instead of the previously sorted page? To the user it looks like they are on the "same" page, and only sorting the contents, but we know that these are new pages that the WC is creating. I'm just wondering if there is some trick out there to tell the browser not to include the sorted pages in the "back" history. Thanks.

I have a database that has three felds that get their values from related database. This works fine, normally, but on the web the fields show up blank (they are set to lookup). I have both files open, and I haven't been able to really find anything on this issue. Can someone possibly help me? I'm a couple of weeks into HTML and CDML, with a search page and two different forms for viewing found records (by page and by list). Is there a way to place TWO "submit" buttons on the search page, one for each of the format files? It appears that the search fields have to be WITHIN the <FORM ACTION> and </FORM> tags, and when I try placing a second <FORM ACTION> . . . </FORM> combination in the file, that button doesn't work. I can always place two links on the home page to two different search pages, one for each format file. We are running filemaker Pro with webserver and here is the issue we are facing. Our clients are able to view their own databases buy entering the webaddress with the database name but if they don't enter a database name it takes them to the main list which has all the otehr database names listed. The problem with this is I work for a law firm and they don't want our clients to know who else we act for (for obious reasons) what can I do to stop this ? can I add a login page for them so that once they enter a certain user name and password it directs them to a list of all the matters relevant to them but no-one else ? Hi Everyone, I have a pop up box that displays the values from the Customer field in my DB. This all works great, however some of the Customer names are the same (i.e x3 MrCustomer) in my DB and therefore display more than once in my pop up box. Is there anyway to stop Customer names that are the same from appearing in the pop up box more than once? Many thanks

Perhaps this is more an advanced HTML question? Suppose I have a small table between [FMP-record] and [/FMP-record]. I want people to be able to print this report from their browsers. one of my databases contains a container field. In the container field i have pictures stored. On my mac where the database runs it is easy; i copy a picture and paste it into the container field and voila, their it is. Now i want this functionality with CDML. My problem is that (at least i think) that FMP-Fields can not be graphics. My question is twofold: 1] is it possible that the user copies a graphical object into a input field that can be submitted to a database 2] if the above is not possible how can i transfer a graphical file (JPG) to my server database. hey there everyone. i have a search page that asks for a account number. if you put the number in and push the search key it goes on to the search found page with the resaults from the serch. but if you use the "enter" key or the "return" key it gives you an error. " unable to process your request because the server encountered and unexpected condition. for more details on error number 4, refer to the filemaker help topic Status(CurrentError) and contact your administrator" this only happens when you press a key to start the search. any ideas. Is there any way to force the correct date format when CDML is written to the HTML page ? I have formatted a page to submit several forms with one submit at the same time or rather sequentially. Hello- I have my site working fairly well with a custom built login system and tokens. However, due partly to a desire to a hide my URL, I am trying to go to frames. Has anyone had much luck using the domain parameter in the example [FMP-SetCookie: CookieName =CookieValue, Expires=Minutes , Path=Pathname , Domain=DomainName ]. Omitting it, of course, sets the cookie in the default domain -- the domain you're already in. Identifying another domain doesn't set the cookie at all.

To start, my client would the image of a query result in a horizontal manor, with a horz. scroll. At first I wanted to avoid frames so I found that I could get a layer to hold the results but it did not display correctly in all browsers. So here I am at frames. Do you think there is a way to get one query to show results in multiple frames. So after the user comes to the home page and clicks begin which will trigger the query. I need the top frames to show movie theatres and the bottom to show movie titles.

Hi, Does anybody have some example HTML/CDML syntax for submitting a form containing some text fields which create a new entry in a master database, thus generating a UID, and some values selected from an HTML option list (generated by InlineAction - this I have achieved with success) to a portal (which is in effect a Join database storing the generated UID from above and the values from the option list). My site (multiple pages, javascript) is working okay when opening with explorer 5 under OS 9.2. Also Windows professional with explorer 6 no problems at all. Use PC-W2000 with FMP-5.5: I have been trying to get a web based solution for adding new records to a relational db portal. I have two dbs #1 Master and #2 Support. Please excuse my ignorance on this, but I'm having one tough time. Im trying to pass the username from the Web Security DB login to a field in Filemaker called currentusername using External("Web-ClientName", 0) . Is their a better way of doing this? Hello, I need to make a search form on the web with 2 related popup in which the displayed values change in the second popup according to the value selected in the 1st popup. So i thougth i solved my problem, guess i did not. This is the situation. One of my fields in a database contains special characters, circumflex, grave accent, etc). I read this variables: var1="[FMP-Field: textfield,Break]" When i display var1 in my browser : window.document.myform1.tekstveld1.value=var1 the text is scrambled. for example i see codes like this : ë I have been playing with the field encoding and with escape/unescape function. I have been searching the forum but have been unable to find an example to solve this question? Does anyone know if it is possible to have two drop down menus on the same page, where the selection made in drop down #1 automatically populates drop down #2 with related data. I've now got my database set up in a CDML website. I wish to add the same type of security functionality that I see when my Filemaker DB is used with Instant Web publishing. I have turned off instant web publishing and started the WebSecurity DBs. Right now I have set up two types of users for this database. One user has a password and complete access to editing, duplication, etc. The other is set as All Users with access only to browsing. The reason I state this I've come across refrence KB documents stating that -view, -findall, -findany will always prompt a login screen. This is just not the case with my above this situation. If someone could help me with this. I have two databases DB1 and DB2. I have an edit form using DB2. Now I have made a HTML that enables me to 1] edit records in DB2 and going back to DB1 and redirect to another html page with a form that is based on records from DB1. The range is in a text field called field_name and I'm trying to find records that start with P, but which come before Pomology in the alphabet. I'm starting from a generic InlineAction which finds all P records. Hello, I have a field called "Start Date", in FM the field is defined as "Date", I have my format as "Thu, Dec 25, 1997". When a user enters the date on the web page, it is sent over as "12/25/1997". In my FM file the date is displayed correctly (Thu, Dec 25, 1997), but when I pull a report (over the web) that has the "Start Date" from a CDML file, the date is sent back as "12/25/1997", how do I get the date pushed back as "Thu, Dec 25, 1997" (into my web page). I have a situation where we are currently using Filemaker with an Email Plugin. We now would like to access this data via the web. My problem lies in creating new emails. I would like to be able to create, send and save this email in the database. I see how an email can be sent and I know how to create a new record but I am really confused on how to do this together. The other issue that I know is going to cause a major headache is how to send attachments. Does anyone have any suggestions? Right now I have it creating a new record then redirecting the user to a "confirmation page" then sending the email. I would like to get rid of this second step. Please help…

I'm new at web companion and don't know a whole lot about it. This is how I am configured: FMPro 6.0V1 on a workstation with the web companion enabled. We have shared each of the 8 databases that I have. I cannot do a find and get any information from the database. When I go to enter a new inventory item, none of the relationships between the databases are working. Also I have the databases tabbed so you can see each of them, but when I click on the tabs I am not able to navigate between databases. Can anyone help?

I have a login form with username and password. This form checks the username and password entered by the user against the username and password fields in my database. The next page selects the related customer name from the database and inserts it into a cookie which is passed onto the search page where it is used as the search criteria. At the moment the user has to click a button on the middle page to get to the search page, but it is not necessary from a user point of view. Is there any way that the middle page (that retrieves the customer name and creates the cookie) can be invisible to the user? I did try using a redirect meta tag, but this does…

Platform: Mac OSX Lasso Version: Lasso Pro 6 In the Connector panel of the Lasso Administration, the name on the Lasso Connector for FileMaker Pro has changed to FMPRemoteDataSource! I've got a fm database that has three webforms using it. The forms take contact info, standard name/address textboxes, and checkbox choice lists. One of them works properly, reports everything. The other two don't report the checkbox choices. I've checked/doublechecked names, order, etc, nothing seems to be wrong. Is there something I'm overlooking/missing/didn't know? Thanks for the help.

I have been strucggling with the FMP-IF command and also read (nearly) all posts. I am not sure about the syntax which makes troubleshooting very hard. This one seems to work: [FMP-If:RecNr.eq.'1'] niks dus [/FMP-If] because recNr is a integer. I'm just starting to get my head wrapped around CDML coding and I've come across a problem. I want to publish my Filemaker database online similar to one of the examples provided with the software. I have a database that contains project tracking, similar to an address book. I've based my HTML/CDML pages on the example from the Developer CD called Employee_Database. I'm trying to make a search page where the user has a choice of viewing the data in two different formats. However, I want the number of records displayed different for each format. Example: If the Summary view is selected then 10 records per page are displayed If Detail view is selected then only 1 record is display. How do I go about setting up my Form for the search page this way? Hey all. So, I don't know why this would be true, but after hours of testing, here's what I found. Any ideas why? Scenario: many passwords (using access privileges) including one "nopassword" that has no filemaker abilities, but will work for limited browse/edit via the web by having users set their own passwords (using field name matching, fairly standard stuff). Now, I deselected any options for this password EXCEPT for limited browse and edit (by forcing a current status by those who come in through a certain entrance to the site). Can I have it so that the db in one machine and the result files are on another? In my opening index.html (which is on the same machine as the db) form I have: <INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME="-Format" value="http://server.com/client/results.html"> But I get an error: JavaScript-Format File Not Found: The format file "http://server.com/client/results.html" could not be found. Why can't I bookmark my search results page so that I can create some commonly used searches and add their respective links on my index page? Example: do a google search using the string: "foo:" The URL for the results can be copied and used as a link in any page... I simply want to do this with my FMPro database on the web, but when I recieve a search results page, there is no unique URL to copy and paste as a bookmark or to use as a shortcut link on my index page! HELP!!! Without this functionality, my interface design will be severely limited!!!!

I have a problem with using FMP-Link. Scenario: I have two databases: Agency and Building. The user will submit a password to the Agency database retrieving their FY03 record. Each user only has one agency record to retrieve. Then they will edit 10-12 pages worth of questions regarding their agency. The next step is to retrieve their building records. This search is based on the search they did for agency. Most of them will have multiple records at this level. The list is returned just fine and they can edit whichever one they want. Hi All, Been mulling this one over for a while and can;t find the simple solution. I have a "Date Created" for all records in the database. I'd like to create a button on my site where people can just click and see the latest 30 records? Hi Is there any way to obtain the actual command value from an Unknown Command error? I'm using javascript pretty extensively in this particular project. It works perfectly in Netscape, but fails with an error 4 in IE. The weird thing is that if I put an alert() statement anywhere relevant in the js, it works fine in IE too. I have searched the posts but I haven't found the answer that I am looking for. I have 3 Databases Company, Location and Contact. They are relatated as follows: Location::CompanyID - Company::CompanyID Contact::CompanyID - Company::CompanyID Contact::LocationID - Location::LocationID Ok my problem is this. I would like to be able to select a location for each contact. I only need the locations for the company to show up. This works just fine in the DB, but when I attempt this thru CDML it does not work. I've been trying to do this through [FMP-ValueList]. I've used valuelists in other places and it works just fine. What am I missing?

Is there anyway to have an exact search when using the input type password? <INPUT TYPE="password" NAME="fieldname" VALUE="" SIZE=10> When a user puts in a correct password there is no problem returning the list page. When a user puts in the wrong password they get an error page. The problem is when a user accidentally types an * (asterisks). This is a FM database find for zero or more characters.....the user retrieves the entire list and not just their own record. Is there an easy way to prevent this from happening -- using this particular command? Thanks in advance! Donna

I have a search form with a drop menu that is picked up from my FileMaker DB. At the moment, the non-selection text is '- All -' and the value is "". This is also the default value - ie when the form is loaded the selection is '- All -'. I would like to set the default value and text of the drop menu to one of the values in the list, but also allow the user the option of selecting '- All -' (with a value of "") if they don't want to accept the defualt. is this possible? PUBLISHING THE WEB SECRUITY DATABASE? NOPE. OK. I was not able to publish the Web Users_.fp5 database, but I was able to duplicate it and publish the re-named and slightly modified duplicate for web users to create their own logins/passwords. I use a script to import this data into Web Users_.fp5. Now, does anyone have tips for me as to how to restrict users' access to their own records? Hi! I'm starting to set up a database that will use Custom Web Publishing, FMP 6 on Mac OS X. The db will be shared on a LAN and viewed via browsers (so that we don't have to buy additional copies of FMP). I don't know CDML, XML, CSS or JavaScript yet. I am trying to build a web site with Claris Home Page and CDML tags. I seem to be unable to control the format (appearance) of a field on the web page from the data base (FMP6) using the FMP-Field CDML tag. Two problems arise - controlling the number of decimals in a number field, and having a boolian field show as "Y" and "N" instead of 1 and 0. My understanding is that the format is supposed to be picked up from the FMP layout referenced in the -Lay tag - but this isn't happening. The fields show up correctly in the FMP Browse and Preview modes but not on the web page. Advice and help would be greatly appreciated - thanks

Hi I want to be able to search more than one field in my database for criteria entered into one search field. I have been trying to set hidden text fields on my search page, to the value of the search field, on submit, with Java scripts - but I can't get it to work - haven't had much exposure to Java Scripts. Hi there, I am creating a page that displays four fields in List Format from a DB; (Date Logged, Log No., Problem & Status). I would only like the four results displayed when the Status equals 'Open' and not where the Status equals 'Closed'. I am using the following CDML below which seems to be working, however when the results are generated on the screen, it leaves a blank row for results where the Status equals 'Closed'.
