Under Mac OS 10.1.5 since updating to Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.2.x, the following Table View request reproducibly fails (hangs) from my FMP 5.0 server:

while this one still works:

There are 17 records in the database file in question. Trying to Table View more than 11 records at a time no longer works!?

Under Mac OS 9.2.2 and MSIE 5.1.x, all still works okay. Also under Mac OS X, all still works okay with Netscape 6.2.2.

Has anyone else noticed Web Companion responding differently in MSIE 5.2.x?

The cdml reference database says that in addition to the -find action tag, certain other tags are required.

Of the three required tags I identify in your code these two:

-db=property.fp5

-format=ztablevwcss.htm

Perhaps I'm missing something.

5.0 WC may have a problem with certain http headers. This type of problem was occuring with 5.5 until 5.5v3 of WC solved it.

You didn't mention which WC you are using make sure you have the very latest version. (5.0v6)

If you have a normal (not Unlimited) version 5.5 you can test it's web companion 5.5v4 to see if you get the same problem. This obviously has the IP limit but for testing purposes it will be sufficient.

scratchmalogicalwax -- Thanks for the tip that a newer version of WC was available, since I hadn't checked in awhile after updating to FMP5.5 on another system. Yes, indeed, updating WC from 5.0v5 to 5.0v6 fixed the problem, although the update readme did not mention any fix relating to this situation -- only mentioning: Lasso Connectivity, Claris Home Page FileMaker Assistant, and "-View and FileMaker Access Privileges." So, evidently MSIE 5.2.x under Mac OS X also triggered the problem.
