I am using corporate Internet LAN, and have FM 6 and my FMP 6 file open in Web folder and configurations done. I am trying to reach my file via a colleague's computer. How do I setup an address, do I need a static IP or is there another way to find out what IP address my computer was assigned. What would the URL look like? Thanks.

It would help if you told us at least the O/S on the computer hosting the db.

Are you trying to reach it from the second machine for the purpose of testing and seeing how it looks? If so, you can do that on your own machine using the local host method. This works on both platforms (you didn't say which platform you are using).

I am using Windows 98. I will need to test, but I will also be putting the databases up, so that it can be viewed by all the users on the network with browsers. BTW, what is the "local host" method? Thank you.

Local host method lets you test them locally if you excuse the pun i.e. on the PC your hosting them on. Handy for development. Just alter the port number that FileMaker does its web serving on by going to Edit>Preferences>Application>Plug-ins>Web Companion>Configure>TCP/IP Port Number. Change the port to something like 100 (stops it interfering with IIS etc) and then in your browser type in http://"yourcomputername":100 this should bring up the default file list html page for FileMaker.
