November 7, 200223 yr I recently switched to osX from os9. I do quite a bit of work from my laptop in places where i don't have web access. in os9 i could open my files and then open explorer and view them from the browser without an internet connection. I can't make it work in osX. works fine when i'm on line but not much good when traveling. Any Ideas???
November 7, 200223 yr This "feature" was introduced at about OS X 10.0.4 and FM5.5. I haven't tried it with 10.2 and FM6. Good Luck. Garry
November 8, 200223 yr Author I missed something. What feature?? I'm using 10.2.1 and FM5.5v2 developer.
November 8, 200223 yr Re: What feature?? Sorry, I was using irony! The 'standalone' mode worked properly until about version 10.0.4 of OS X; then they broke it I am using 10.2.1, however I haven't tried it as a 'stanalone' for quite a while. I will see if I can find any workarounds; other than an ethernet cable and a hub. All the best. Garry
November 26, 200223 yr You need to be connected to an ethernet hub that is powered up. It does not need a network. Tried and tested - but still not good by FMI.
November 26, 200223 yr how do I see the web interface. I've tried http://10.10.10.01:591/ connected to a modem but does not work. I've read somewhere to use http://localhost/ but that does not seem to work either. I don't have an ethernet hub, I'm working from home with a modem. Ger
November 26, 200223 yr Check which port WebCompanion is using. If it is not port 80 the URL should look like this: http://localhost:xxx/ The "xxx" being the port number. All the best. Garry
November 27, 200223 yr I never tried to use a modem, so can't comment. You can not use 10.10.10.01, try 10.10.10.1 I still you'll need a hub and cable !
November 29, 200223 yr Using OS 10.2 and FM6, http://localhost:xxx/ works fine, with modem cable attached. Thanks Ger
