I have a program that requires 8 different databases that are related to each. If I use the Web Companion am I going to loose any functionality at all or is it going to be as productive as it is now?

How productive is it now? You haven't told us. We can only guess that it will be as functional or more functional if you are doing CWP and are talented.

CDML can use your Portals and Relationships.

Hi, Dobbers! Most things should work OK, but I've heard some folks have trouble with relational value lists. Check the posts for details, though (I personally haven't used relational DB's on web much yet, but I have a big project for spring that will involve them). I don't antipcipate any problems.
