Is there any way of having to enter a password...

Featured Replies

I was just wondering if there was anyway I can get around the required password/username popup that comes up w/ IWP on 7. I know that you can just press enter to use the guest account, but I was wondering if there was ANY way you can just go right to the database w/out even that. Is there some sort of workaround, maybe in the url that you use, by passing the password or username?

Thanks.

Hi, Justin! I remember reading you can pass usernames/passwords in the URL w/Custom Web Publishing (I forgot the syntax but you do it), but Microsoft updates to Internet Explorer make that incompatible now. I do not have 7, but in FMP4-6 you can just create a user w/no password which allows access to db's (both web and mult-user) without a password prompt... I don't remember if you have to have the "Try default password" option on or not.

Thanks Steve,

I just figured it out a few minutes ago. All you have to do is activate the guest user account and then whenever you go to the url of the IWP FMP site with 7, it doesn't ask for anything. It's kind of wierd FMP didn't even cover that special feature in the help section.

Thanks again.
