User authentication in IWP

Featured Replies

When logging into a database using FMP7 client, username/password authentication works as expected. From a browser, the only access to a database is through the "guest" logon, which requires no password. Attempting to log on as "admin" or another identified user with password, FMP7 Advanced complains and disallows. Any suggestions?

If you are using IIS under microsoft check there It might be looking for authentication there.. I will check with our IT department.. I recall we had a similar problem

If you are running fms 7 advance on a win 2000 os and not either server 2000 or server 2003 none of the authentication to the server os will work since there is a difference in the user and groups even though the IIS is similar.

However your problem. I found that any of my solutions that I was serving out with iwp and had any guest access at all behaved fine with fmp 7 client directly but with iwp it assumed and took the guest privledges and served it out. I could not bring up the password screen from the web in order to enter a higher power user name and pw in order to change the data.

When I dumped the guest privledges in the database for iwp then the password screen came up and I was able to enter data with high power password.

I reported this problem to fmp as a bug. It seems that the password screen should come up in iwp to the browser with the guest option if it is appropriate.

hope this helps...
